A coaching guide with a progression model to help young baseball and softball players overcome their fear of being hit by a pitch. This coaching guide is designed to help you get your transition athletes, from coach pitch or machine pitch to kid pitch, comfortable in the batter box. It is about building comfort, competence, and courage.
The 6-month retainer is for the serious athlete that wants multiple touch points between training sessions to refine their skills. This is for athletes who want to take their mental performance as serious as their physical performance and want to put effort in through pre-season and carry that effort all the way through post-season. The 6-month retainer for one-on-one coaching still provides the weekly 60 minute sessions, but also gives access to Dr. Tyler via text or email with a quicker guaranteed response time than other packages. The retainer also offers pre-game support to help support the needs of the athlete the day prior to the game to make sure a plan is in place and is easy to follow.
If you are looking to do more than just supplement your training with a coaching session, you truly want to reach the next level of performance, and you are willing to put in the time and effort, then this is the option for you.
What Happens After You Sign Up?
After purchasing a coaching package, whether it is one session or a year’s worth, you will receive a confirmation email with the next steps to begin your training which will include the following:
1. Schedule Your Free 30-Minute Consultation
If you have not already completed a consultation, you will receive a link to schedule a free 30-minute consult on a date and time of your choosing. During this call we will:
Discuss your goals and current challenges
Determine if the program is a good fit for you
Agree on coaching dates, session times, and meeting format (video, phone, in-person, etc.)
This consultation helps ensure your coaching experience is intentional, structured, and aligned with your needs.
2. Complete Required Forms
Before coaching sessions can begin, the following must be completed:
Client Intake Form – helps me to tailor the coaching to your goals and background (filled out when you select a package).
Liability Waiver – required for participation in coaching sessions (emailed to you with initial email).
3. Begin Your Coaching Sessions
Once your consultation is completed and forms are submitted, we will begin your scheduled coaching sessions and start working toward your performance goals. If you are under 18, you will be required to have a parent or guardian available during your coaching session. Parents will also get a free 30-minute session at the mid-way point (if purchasing 1-month or less), or every 4-weeks. These sessions will give general updates on progress and direction and I will also spend time to give some training to the parents as well.
Once coaching sessions begin, you can expect a few things for each sessions:
Each session to be approximately 60-minutes.
New athletes receive a Peregrine Rising Mental Performance Journal
We will begin with a check in to see where you are. This includes asking three questions: “Where are you right now?” Which helps me to determine your focus and distractions; “What is your battery level?” To help me determine how much energy you have for training; “What do you hope to get out of this session?” Helps me tailor the day to your needs.
You will receive a journal prompt weekly via e-mail, text, or face to face meetings (whichever you prefer). These journal prompts are meant to help you build self-awareness.
You will be given a worksheet for homework that covers some of the topics covered during the session. (E-mailed out within 24 hours after each session).
If you sign up for a package deal, you have e-mail access to me between sessions for any questions you might have. Unless otherwise stated, I will respond to your e-mail within 36 hours.
With a retainer package you also have access via text and will be responded to within 12 hours. Calls can be arranged most days to support pre-game and post-game needs.
A 6-month season retainer package is best when athletes want help with each phase of the season (pre-season, season, and play-offs). This is also best for athletes with shifting schedules who do better with text and calls for small shifts throughout the week.
Reading about mental skills training is beneficial, but the key to seeing a true change in performance outcomes is working with a mental performance coach and learning to tailor the skills to your specific needs. Dr. Tyler takes the time to work with each athlete according to their needs. There are no cookie cutter plans. Each athlete works on the focus and skills needed to reach their goals.
Besides saving you money, the 10-session package is great for athletes who truly desire to build a foundation of mental performance and want to learn the ins and outs of consistency. This package allows you to space your sessions to meet your needs throughout your season or off-season.
After the free 30-minute consultation, Dr. Tyler will take time to put together a plan for the upcoming session specific to your needs which will include discussion, skills training / refinement, and a worksheet for you to take home to continue your progression. The worksheet will contain some work to help you to continue refining your training related to the session and include at least one journal prompt to help you increase your self-awareness. During your first session with Dr. Tyler, you will receive your own Peregrine Rising Mental Performance Journal to do your work in. This is just for you to take notes regarding the mental performance training and to work through the journal prompts.

If you are interested in starting out in mental performance training, the 4-session package is where I recommend to start. This package allows you to space your sessions to meet your needs throughout your season or off-season. It also allows enough sessions to have a progression and follow-up on the implementation of new skills. Just like learning a new skill in sport, repetition is key.

This is a worksheet for athletes and coaches to use for return to sport athletes. There are a lot of fears when returning after a major injury and having a way to document all those strange feelings, noises, and pains so that they can be reviewed with a physical therapist can help calm the mind. There’s no longer a need to try and remember and describe past events, carry a stack of these worksheets and be able to discuss your conerns easily with your physical therapist.
Many times the feelings and pains after returning to sport are common and a physical therapist can calm the nerves of athletes by addressing each of the incidents.
While this is called the “Return to sport” Pain Awareness worksheet, it can be used for any athletes to help document situations so that physical therapists, doctors, and emergency personnel can treat effectively and properly.
